Amy B. Barnett

Dear Amy B. Barnett, Editor-In-Chief

Your personal anecdote in the Oct. 2013' issue is the template of today's modern woman:  Aspiring, unveering, strong-minded and independent...

As a Cuban/Spaniard American mired in an unforgiving, criminally unjust Judicial System.  I find some peace in realizing that, at least, affirmative action has made great strides.  My prayers now are for the complete abolition of racism/stigmas and the American neglect by the elitist.

My deep sentiments derive from being criminally incarcerated since 1994; for a mere possession of a firearm by a petty-felon conviction, while murders, pedophiles, armed bank robbers, sex offenders etc...  Receive far more lenient sentences ironically then I.  The crime against my family and I is tantamount to Emmitt Till and Trayvon Martin.  Yet despite my release nearing my hopes are that through A.A.I. and other like-minded organizations our efforts/sacrifice prove the Kleig light for sentencing reform.

In the mean time I spend my time constructively mentoring through correspondence, thousands of men and women, young and old a-like..  In earnest hopes that one day Americans are no longer callously incarcerated or victimized by the very laws that are paradoxically designed to protect us.

Mrs. Barnett, please do add A.A.I. and myself to your collection of sources.  I personally would be honored to merit any inquiries.  Do visit A.A.I. to learn more about my predicament and initiatives.  An American Injustice.com is a new site, which will be launched in full force early next year.  It was founded by Reform Proponents Lawyers, Jurists, Politicians. Lobbyist...  My case is being show-cased partially due to it's egregious sentence.

I wish you continued successes; The Ebony Magazine Dedication, love and vision.  "Thank You".
